Statement by Belarus' MFA Press Secretary Andrei Popov With Regard to the Escalation of the Situation in the Middle East
Minsk, 21 July 2006
Belarus notes with deep concern the continuous escalation of tensions in the Middle East, which entails the growing number of innocent victims among civilians, destruction of peaceful facilities, and is developing into a humanitarian crisis.
We urge to cease fire and bloodshed immediately, create “humanitarian corridors” for providing civilians with security guarantees and free exit from the combat operations zone.
Belarus once again calls upon the sides of the conflict to immediately start negotiations on adjusting the existing contradictions.
