The Republic of Belarus welcomes the UN Security Council resolution 1397 (2002) on the situation in the Middle East including the Palestinian question.
Affirmed by UN Security Council a vision of the Middle East as a region where two States, Israel and Palestine, live side by side within secure and recognized borders fully coincide with the position of the Republic of Belarus on Middle East conflict settlement.
The Republic of Belarus fully supports the demand of immediate cessation of violence, including all acts of terror as well as the appeal to the sides involved in the conflict to cooperate in the implementation of the Tenet work plan and Mitchel Report with the aim of resuming peaceful negotiations on a political settlement.
The Republic of Belarus considers the adoption of the UN Security Council resolution as a decisive input of international community in the process of peaceful settlement of Middle East conflict.
